Dunrobin Castle

Posted on

Dunrobin Castle is located just outside the large village of Golspie heading north on the A9. About a 30 minute drive from The Old Manse. The Castle, which resembles a French Chateau, dates back to the early 1300s and is one of Britain's oldest continuously inhabited houses. The falconary display, that takes place in the grounds ,is first class and worth the entrance fee alone.

We stayed at the Old Manse for one night when riding the NC500 by motorcycle. It was excellent from beginning to end. A very lovely welcome from Neale and Linda who made us a cup of tea as soon as we got there. We sat and had a chat in the guest lounge. The house is stunning. Attention to detail is the order of the day. You will want for nothing. Breakfast was wonderful. You won't find paper napkins or foil wrapped butter here, everything is done properly. Linda even packed us a couple of her home made cheese scones for later in the day and they were delicious. I have rated this B&B as mid-range price but it is luxury accommodation
