Shandwick Bay

Posted on

Shandwick Bay, part of the Seaboard Villlages, lies to the east of The Old Manse and is a six mile drive out to the coast. Even in the height of summer there is never more than  handful of people on the beach, no brollies or sun loungers here. Its quite easy to while away a day exploring Shandwick, Hilton and Balintore which make up the Seaboard Villages. The area is steeped in Pictish History with two stones situated in the area, The Hilton of Cadboll Store and Shandwick Stone

We stayed at the Old Manse for one night when riding the NC500 by motorcycle. It was excellent from beginning to end. A very lovely welcome from Neale and Linda who made us a cup of tea as soon as we got there. We sat and had a chat in the guest lounge. The house is stunning. Attention to detail is the order of the day. You will want for nothing. Breakfast was wonderful. You won't find paper napkins or foil wrapped butter here, everything is done properly. Linda even packed us a couple of her home made cheese scones for later in the day and they were delicious. I have rated this B&B as mid-range price but it is luxury accommodation
